Islamabad, May 5: An international conference hosted by Washington-based Kashmiri American Council (KAC) Monday said that Kashmir was an issue of right to self-determination “that gives people the power to decide their future without foreign interference.”
 The International Kashmir Conference titled - “Is Kashmir an Issue of Election or Self-determination” - was attended by leaders of various political and religious parties of Pakistan, academicians, scholars, diplomats, parliamentarians, journalists and human rights activists besides Kashmiri leaders from both sides of the dividing line.
 Presided over by Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, president Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), the conference was addressed by the chairman of Kashmir Committee Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Sardar Zulfiqar Khan of KAC, Sheikh Waleed Rasool, chief coordinator of the conference, former PaK president, Sardar Anwar Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami PaK chief Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Barister Sultan Mehmood Choudhary, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Sheikh Tajamul Islam, executive director Kashmir Media Service, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Dr Syed Nazir Gilani, Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri, Altaf Hussain Wani, Rafique Ahmed Dar, Engineer Mehmood, Manzoor-ul-Haq, Mashal Yasin Malik, Nayar Malik and several others.
 Dr Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, chairman of Kashmir American Council and professor of microbiology at George Washington University USA was chief guest at the conference.
 Pertinently, the messages of Kashmiri separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Syeda Aasia Indrabi were also read out at the conference.
 The speakers said right to self-determination was the cardinal principle of international law and the main axis around which the post colonial world revolves.
 Regarding the elections the participants while referring to international covenants said that the world body (UN) in its historic resolution on 24 January 1957 made it absolutely clear that election could not be a substitute to Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination.
 They maintained that the people of Kashmir have time and again boycotted “farcical polls” in Kashmir. Elections, they said, has nothing to do with Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.
 “Kashmir issue has a legal international dimension and needs to be addressed accordingly”.
 The speakers also appreciated the selfless services and peerless contribution of veteran Kashmiri scholar Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai for projecting Kashmir cause at international level.
 The participants welcomed Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s recent statement on Kashmir wherein he stressed the need for resolution of Kashmir dispute in line with Kashmiris’ aspirations and in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
 Chairman of Kashmir Committee Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said there was no ambiguity in Pakistan’s Kashmir policy. “Pakistan over the years has been consistently supporting Kashmiris’ cause and raised the issue vociferously at international forums”, he said.
 He said after 9/11 there has been a sea change in the world scenario. “The focus of international community got entirely shifted and the issue of terrorism became priority whereas the genuine freedom movements were dubbed as terrorist movements”, he said.
 A declaration, issued at the end of conference, urged the United Nations Secretary General to appoint a special envoy of international standing on Kashmir to seek early and amicable solution of the lingering issue.
 The resolution demanded release of all political prisoners languishing in jails in and outside Kashmir.
 The participants expressed dismay that Kashmiri leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Aasiya Andrabi could not attend the conference because the necessary travel documents were not made available to them.

Islamabad, May 4: Washington-based Kashmiri American Council (KAC) is hosting a conference titled  “Is Kashmir an issue of election or right to self-determination” which commences here on Monday.
Parliamentarians, prominent scholars, human rights activists as well as the leaders of political and religious parties hailing from both sides of the line of control will attend the conference being held in the backdrop of parliamentary polls in Kashmir.
According to Sheikh Waleed Rasool, the chief coordinator of International Kashmir Conference, besides prime minister of Pakistani administered Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Federal Minister Ahasan Iqbal, Senator Baber Awan, Muhahid Hussain Syed would attend the one-day moot, which he said would provide a common platform to the delegates to share their views and expertise on the subject.
He said that Prof Dr Imtiaz, veteran Kashmiri scholar and the incumbent Chairman of KAC would delver keynote address at the international conference.

Islamabad, Apr 25: Appreciating people of South Kashmir for staying away from electoral exercise, the Chairman of United Jihad Council Syed Salahuddin has said that Kashmiris have yet again conveyed a strong message to India as well as the international community that the freedom movement was dearer to them and they can never think of betraying the supreme sacrifices rendered by Kashmiri martyrs.
 Syed Salahuddin made these assertions while addressing leaders of the UJC here on Friday. He said that despite enormous pressure, arbitrary detention of Hurriyat leaders, deception and deceit and use of brute force by Indian authorities and its “paid agents” Kashmiri people, as always, proved that they were ready to render every sacrifice to achieve the cherished goal
  Extending heartfelt gratitude to Kashmiri people for boycotting Lok Saba polls the UJC chief termed the poll boycott as a great success of people, which he said was in fact a harbinger of big victory. “Mujahideen (freedom fighters) are hectically engaged on the military front and the struggle against Indian occupation would be further intensified with the passage of time”, he said adding that those who betrayed the cause would ultimately have to stand before the court of justice where they will have to repent bitterly. He expressed the hope that the people of Kashmir would boycott the forthcoming “farcical polls”.
 Salahuddin also condemned the use of brute force by police against Journalists and peaceful protesters. “Though a section of media was speaking India’s language, majority of Kashmiri journalists represent Kashmiris’ aspirations”, he said.

اسلام آباد//// متحدہ جہاد کونسل چیئرمین سید صلاح الدین نے جنوبی کشمیر میں لوک سبھا انتخابات کا مکمل بائیکاٹ کرکے کشمیری عوام نے نہ صرف بھارت بلکہ پوری دنیا کو یہ پیغام دیا کہ وہ شہداءِ کشمیر کے ساتھ بے وفائی کے مرتکب نہیں ہوسکتے ۔یہاں جاری ایک پریس بیان کے مطابق سید صلاح الدین نے ان خیالات کا اظہار متحدہ جہاد کونسل کے قائدین کے اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا۔بیان کے مطابق حزب سربراہ نے کہا کہ انتخابات کا بائیکاٹ کرکے اسلام آباد(اننت ناگ)، پلوامہ، ترال، شوپیان اور دیگر علاقوں کے حریت پسند عوام نے نہ صرف بھارت بلکہ پوری دنیا کو یہ پیغام دیا کہ وہ شہداءِ کشمیر کے ساتھ بے وفائی کے مرتکب نہیں ہوسکتے اور انہیں اپنی جا ن سے زیادہ تحریک آزادئ کشمیر عزیز ہی۔انہوں نے کہا کہ ریاستی و پولیس اور فورسز کے ظلم و ستم ، سیاسی کارکنوں اور قائدین کی گرفتاریوں اور نہتے عوام پر دھونس دباٶ اور لالچ کے ہتھیار استعمال کرنے کے باوجود کشمیری عوام ہمیشہ کی طرح آج بھی یہ ثابت کرچکے ہیں کہ وہ اپنے مقصد کے حصول کیلئے ہر قسم کی قربانی دینے کیلئے تیار ہیں اورہاتھ دینے کی بجائے سر کٹانے کو ہی ترجیح دیتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے حریت پسند عوام کو جنگجوئوں کی طرف سے دل کی عمیق گہرائیوں سے مبارکباد دی اور اس یقین کا اظہار کیا کہ حریت نوازی کے اس امتحان میں ان کی کامیابی ایک بہت بڑی کامیابی کی نوید ہی۔

Islamabad, Apr 21: Staging a sit-in near United Nations office here, several Kashmiri political leaders Monday said elections held in J&K in presence of over half a million military personnel couldn’t be a substitute for right to self-determination.
 Led by Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) premier Chaudhary Abdul Majeed, the sit-in was joined by PaK Jamaat-e-Islami chief Abdul Rasheed Turabi, convener APHC (G) Pak chapter Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Abdul Majeed Mir, Ishtiaq Hameed, HCJK leaders Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Altaf Hussain Wani, Abdul Hameed Lone, Moulana Muhammad Yousuf of JUI-F, Peoples Party (PaK) president Sardar Khalid Ibraheem, Tahir Khokhar of MQM, human rights activist Sardar Amjad Yousuf and others.
 Addressing the gathering, Kashmiri leaders said elections in JK have no credibility. They said the authorities there have launched massive crackdown on separatist leadership with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik and others either arrested or placed under house arrest.
 They maintained that elections could never be a solution to the lingering Kashmir dispute. “India has been using elections as a tool to hoodwink the international community,” they said.
 They presented a memorandum to the UN officials seeking world body’s pro-active role to settle the Kashmir issue. The memorandum said that the “farcical elections” in JK were a flagrant violation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir.

مظفرآباد//بھارت کے زیر انتظام کشمیرمیںحریت لیڈران کی گرفتاریوں اور لوک سبھا انتخابات کے خلاف مظفر آباد میں ریلیاں نکالی گئیں جبکہ پاکستان کے دارالخلافہ اسلام آباد میں مظاہرے کئے گئے اور فوجی مبصرین برائے پاک وبھارت کو اقوام متحدہ کے سیکرٹری جنرل کے نام احتجاجی یاداشت پیش کی ۔جموں وکشمیر لبریشن سیل کے اہتمام سے مظفر آباد میں ایک تقریب سنٹرل پریس کلب مظفر آباد میں منعقد ہوئی جس میں سیاسی ، سماجی و دینی جماعتوں کے نمائندوں ، جماعت اسلامی کے نائب امیر شیخ عقیل الرحمن نی، پیپلز پارٹی کے میڈیا ایڈوائزر شوکت جاوید میر ،عزیر عزالی، راحت فاروق ایڈووکیٹ اور دیگر مقررین نے خطابات کئے جبکہ حریت (گ) چیئرمین سید علی گیلانی نے بھی ٹیلیفونک خطاب کیا۔ اس موقعہ پر مہاجرین، سول سوسائٹی، طلباء و طالبات کی ایک کثیر تعداد بھی موجود تھی۔ کشمیری قائدین نے کہا کہ ہم انتخاب مخالف کشمیری حریت کانفرنس کے راہنماٶں، قائدین اور عوام کی بلاجواز گرفتاریوں، نظربندیوں اور ظلم و ستم کی مذمت کرتے ہیں اور عالمی انسانی حقوق کے اداروں سے نوٹس لینے کا مطالبہ کرتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ بھارتی زیر انتظام کشمیر میں انتخابات کو یکسر مسترد کرتے ہیں اور عالمی برادری سے اپیل کرتے ہیں کہ وہ بھارت کو کشمیریوں کے حق خودارادیت دینے کے لئے اپنا دباٶ بڑھائی۔ مقررین نے کہا کہ مسئلہ کشمیر کو حل کئے بغیر خطہ میں امن کا قیام ممکن نہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کشمیریوں نے تین نسلوں کی قربانیاں دی ہیں جنہیں رائیگاں ہونے نہیں دیا جائے گا۔ مقررین نے کہا کہ انتخابات حق خود ارادیت کا نعم البدل نہیں ہو سکتی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کشمیر میں اقوام متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے مطابق کشمیر میں آزادانہ، منصفانہ اور غیر جانبدارانہ استصواب رائے کروایا جائے تاکہ کشمیری اپنے مستقبل کا فیصلہ کر سکیں۔ تقریب کے اختتام پر گھڑی پن چوک تک احتجاجی ریلی بھی نکالی گئی۔اس موقع پر مختلف قراردیں بھی پیش کی گئیں جن میں کہا گیا کہ جموں وکشمیر بھارت کا حصہ نہیں بلکہ متنازعہ علاقہ ہے اس میں بھارتی پارلیمنٹ کے لئے انتخاب اقوام متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے منافی ہی۔تقریب میں شریک شرکاء نے مطالبہ کیاکہ اقوام متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے مطابق کشمیر میں آزادانہ ،منصفانہ اور غیر جانبدارانہ استصواب کرایا جائے تاکہ کشمیری اپنے مستقبل کا فیصلہ کرسکیں۔ اس دوران اسلام آباد پاکستان میں بھی کشمیر میں منعقدہ لوک سبھا الیکشن کے خلاف ایک احتجاجی مظاہر ہ کیا گیا جس میں حد متارکہ کے دونوں جانب تعلق رکھنے والی سیاسی سماجی اور دینی جماعتوں کے قائدین نے شرکت کی۔ اقوام متحدہ کے مبصر دفتر کے سامنے منعقدہ احتجاجی ریلی کی قیادت وزیر اعظم چوہدری مجید نے کی۔ بعد ازاں شرکاء نے اقوام متحدہ کے فوجی مبصرین برائے پاک وبھارت کو اقوام متحدہ کے سیکرٹری جنرل کے نام احتجاجی یاداشت پیش کی ۔ریلی میں امیر جماعت اسلامی عبدالرشید ترابی،امیر جمعیت علماء اسلام کے سربراہ مولانا سعیدیوسف ،سرپرست اعلیٰ آزادجموں وکشمیر پیپلزپارٹی سردار خالد ابراہیم،کنوینئر ایم کیو ایم  ووزیر ٹرانسپورٹ و امداد باہمی طاہر کھوکھر،حریت (گ) کے کنوینر غلام محمد صفی ،حریت کانفرنس کے قائدین محمود احمد ساغر،عبدالحمید لون،،الطاف حسین وانی،محمد پرویز ،وزیر سیاحت عبدالسلام بٹ،وزیر قانون اظہر گیلانی،ڈپٹی سپیکر شاہین کوثر ڈار نے شرکت کی۔یاداشت میں کہاگیا کہ کشمیر میں بھارتی انتخابات اقوام متحدہ کی کشمیر کے متعلق قراردادوں کی کھلی خلاف ورزی ہی۔یاداشت میں مزید کہا گیا ہے کہ آج بھارت نہ صرف اقوام متحدہ کی کشمیر سے متعلق قراردادوں کی خلاف ورزی کررہا ہے بلکہ ریاست کے اندر غیر آئینی اقدامات بھی اٹھا رہا ہی۔یاداشت میں عالمی برادری سے مطالبہ کیا کہ وہ کشمیر میں بھارتی فورسز کی طرف سے جاری بے گناہ شہریوں کا قتل عام بند کرانے اور مسئلہ کشمیر کو کشمیری عوام کی خواہشات کے مطابق حل کرنے کے لئے عالمی سطح پر کئے گئے وعدے پورے کرنے کے لئے بھارت پر دبائو ڈالے ۔عالمی برادری سے یہ بھی مطالبہ کیاگیا کہ وہ بھارت پر زور دے کہ وہ مسئلہ کشمیر کے حل کے لئے پاکستان کے ساتھ بامعنی مذاکرات شروع کرے اور تاخیری حربے ترک کردے اور حالیہ انتخابات کے دوران بھارتی انتظام کشمیر میں گرفتار حریت قائدین کو رہا کرے اور شہریوں پر تشدد روکی۔

‘Mainstream politicians barter Kashmir’s interests’

Islamabad, Apr 18: Chairman of the United Jihad Council (UJC) Syed Salahuddin on Friday said the elections being held in Jammu and Kashmir “in presence of over 7 lakh troops have no credibility.”
 “In the garb of these fraudulent elections India is trying to strengthen its political and military dominance over the J&K,” Salahuddin said while addressing UJC’s command council meeting.
 He said Kashmiris’ participation in the elections is being capitalized by Indian leaders at international level. “They project Kashmiris’ involvement in the elections as manifestation of their complete faith in Indian democracy and endorsement of the state’s accession with the Indian union,” he said.
 Salahuddin said boycotting elections was the only way to counter this negative propaganda.
 Hailing separatist leaders engaged in poll-boycott campaign Salahuddin said political and religious groups who are maintaining silence over the issue should join the poll-boycott campaign.
 Flaying mainstream parties, UJC chief said the pro-India parties have always bulldozed the interests of Kashmiris for their petty political interests. “They are bartering the interests of the state and its people to safeguard their personal and family interests,” he said.

India urged to return mortal remains of Bhat and Guru

Rawalpindi, Feb 11: Terming hanging of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru as murder of justice Kashmiri leaders hailing from both sides of line of control on Tuesday renewed their collective demand that mortal remains of both the martyrs be returned to Kashmiris without any further delay.

The Kashmiri leaders made this demand while addressing a seminar which was organized by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front-R at its party office in Rawalpindi. Held in memory of JKLF founding leader Muhammad Maqbool Bhat the function was addressed by representatives of segregated factions of Hurriyat Conference, leaders of political parties of PaK, and representative of civil society including deputy speaker Shaheen Kousar Dar, cabinet minister Abdul Salam Butt, JI chief Abdul Rasheed Turabi, PML-N leader Shah Ghulam Qadir, advocate Nabila Ershad of Peoples Party (PaK), Sheikh Tajamulul Islam the Executive Director of Kashmir Media Service, DFP vice president Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhtarma Shameem Shawl, Altaf Ahmed Wani, Muzaffar Shah, APHC-G leader Pervaiz Ahmed Shah advocate, APHC-M representative Muhammad Shafi Dar, Sheikh Waleed Rasool, Khurshid Ahmed Mir, whereas, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and JKLF-R supreme head Barrister Abdul Majeed Trambo addressed the seminar through skype (video Link) from London.

The speakers on the occasion said that Muhammad Maqbool Bhat was one of the proud sons of the soil who preferred death to slavery. They said that it was actually his (Bhat’s) indomitable role and matchless sacrifice that had rejuvenated the spirit of freedom among Kashmiri masses. They said that it was very unfortunate that despite many flaws in the trial Bhat was hanged to death and buried in the jail premises, which they said was not only the worst kind of human rights violation but a serious breach of international norms of justice and humanity.

They said that India, very unfortunately, repeated the history after 30 years thereby sending another Kashmiri youth Muhammad Afzal Guru to the gallows. They said Guru was also implicated in a false and fabricated case saying that the saner voices in India acknowledged that the execution was a political motivated decision.They maintained that there has been no direct evidence against Afzal Guru but despite the fact Indian Supreme court in its verdict said that Guru should be hanged to satisfy the collective conscience of Indian nation. They observed that the judgment speaks volumes about the flaws in India’s judicial system.   They said that India is a country that cages dead inside iron walls.

Referring to the matchless sacrifices rendered by Kashmiri nation they said that hundreds and thousands of Kashmiris including Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Guru have laid down their lives for right to self-determination. “Kashmiris’ struggle is for self-determination and this right has been promised to them by United Nation charter, it has been promised to them by the United Nations resolutions, the international community and pledged to them by the respective leadership of India and Pakistan”, they said.

They said that Kashmiris have categorically rejected the India’s contention that Kashmir was an integral part of India. They said that Indian stance on Jammu and Kashmir was baseless, unfounded and unwarranted. They reiterated their pledge to continue the ongoing struggle till its logical conclusion. The speakers also urged the government of Pakistan to adopt clear cut policy on Kashmir. While expressing their concern over the role of Base Camp (PaK) the speakers said that the government of the region was not fulfilling its legal and constitution responsibilities vis-à-vis the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front staged a sit-in protest demonstration in front of UNMOGIP office in Islamabad.  Held in connection with the 30^th martyrdom anniversary of Muhmmad Maqbool Bhat the protest demonstration was attended by the JKLF and JKSLF activists as well as the members of civil society. Speaking on the occasion , JKLF leader Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Saleem Haroon, APHC-M convener Syed Yousuf Naseem paid eulogizing tributes to JKLF founder  Muhmmad Maqbool Bhat, Muhammad Afzal Guru and thousands of Kashmiri martyrs . Reiterating their pledge to uphold the mission of martyrs they said that Kashmiris would continue the ongoing struggle till they achieve their long cherished goal of freedom. The JKLF leaders also presented a memorandum to UNMOGIP officials seeking return of mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru from Tihar Jail.

راولپنڈی//لبریشن فرنٹ کے بانی رہنما محمد مقبول بٹ کی برسی کے سلسلے میں پاکستان اور پاکستانی زیر انتظام کشمیر میں تقریبات انعقاد ہوا۔جموں کشمیر لبریشن فرنٹ(آر) پاکستان شاخ کے زیر اہتمام منعقدہ سمینار سے کشمیری مزاحمتی قائدین نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ حصول حق خودارادیت کی جدو جہد کو اس وقت تک جاری و ساری رکھا جائے گا جب تک کشمیری اپنے پیدائشی حق کو حاصل نہیں کرتے۔ محمد مقبول بٹ کی تیسویں برسی کے سلسلے میں منعقدہ اس خصوصی تقریب سے حریت کانفرنس کے قائدین کے علاوہ پاکستان زیر انتظام کشمیر کی قانون ساز اسمبلی کی ڈپٹی سپیکر شاہین کوثر ڈار، وزیر حکومت عبدلسلام بٹ، مسلم لیگ (ن) کے سیکریٹری جنرل شاہ غلام قادر،پیپلز پارٹی کی مرکزی رہنماءنبیلہ ارشاد،ڈی ایف پی کے نائب صدر محمود احمد ساغر،الطاف وانی،مظفر شاہ،شعیب احمد شاہ، کشمیر میڈیاسروس کے ایگزیکٹیو ڈائریکٹر شیخ تجمل الاسلام، شمیم شال، حریت کانفرنس (گ)کے رہنما پرویزاحمد شاہ ،حریت کانفرنس(ع) کے رہنماءمحمد شفیع ڈار،شیخ ولید رسول، عبدالحمید لون خورشید احمدمیراور دیگر قائدین نے خطاب کیا۔جبکہ لندن سے پروفیسر نذیر احمد شال اور جے کے ایل ایف (آر) کے سر پرست اعلیٰ بیرسٹر عبدلمجید ترمبو نے بھی خطاب کیا کشمیری قائدین نے لبریشن فرنٹ کے بانی رہنماءمحمد مقبول بٹ اور محمد افضل گورو کی شہادت کو عدالتی قتل سے تعبیر کرتے ہوئے کہا اس انتہائی اقدام کو عدو انصاف اور بین الاقوامی قانون کی سنگین خلاف ورزی قراردیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ 1975کے اندرا عبدللہ ایکارڑ سے جو کشمیریوں کی جدوجہد کو سیاسی طور پر نقصان پہنچا مقبول بٹ نے پھانسی کے پھندے کو چوم کر اس نقصان کی تلافی کی ےوں کشمیر کاز کو ایک نئی جلاءبخشی۔مقررین کا کہنا تھا کہ باباءحریت نے تختہ دار پر چڑھ کر ےہ ثابت کیا کہ وہ کسی کا زرخرید ایجنٹ نہیں بلکہ وہ جموں و کشمیر کے مظلوم عوام کا ایجنٹ ہے جو وطن کی آزادی کے لئے جدو جہد کررہے ہیں۔مقررین نے" کشمیر بھارت کے اٹوٹ انگ" کے بھارتی موقف کو مسترد کرتے ہوئے اس موقف کو کشمیربارے اقوام متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے خلاف قراردیا اور کہاکہ حق خودارادیت کشمیری عوام کوبنیادی حق ہے جس پر کسی قسم کا سمجھوتا نہیں کیا جاسکتا ۔دریں اثناء لبریشن فرنٹ اور سٹوڈنٹس لبریشن فرنٹ کے زیراہتمام مقبول بٹ برسی کے موقع پر اسلام آباد میں اقوامِ متحدہ کے دفتر کے باہر زبردست احتجاجی مظاہرہ کیا گیا۔ احتجاجی دھرنے سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے لبریشن فرنٹ کے ترجمان محمد رفیق ڈار، حریت کانفرنس (ع) کے کنوینئر سید یوسف نسیم، آرگنائزر راجہ غلام مجتبیٰ، مرکزی رہنما محمد سلیم ہارون، حریت کانفرنس کے رہنماعبد المجید ملک اور دیگر مقررین نے کہا کہ مقبول بٹ شہید ، شہدائے چکوٹھی اور افضل گورو سمیت ہزاروں شہداءکشمیر کشمیری قوم کے ماتھے کا جھومر ہیں جنہوں نے مادرِ وطن ریاست جموں کشمیر کی بکھری وحدت کی بحالی، مادرِ وطن کی آزادی، خودمختاری اور خوشحالی کے حصول کیلئے اپنی جانوں کے نذرانے پیش کئے۔مقررین نے کہا کہ مقبول بٹ نے تمام تر آسائشوں اور زندگانی خواہشات کو بالائے طاق رکھتے ہوئے اپنے وطن کی آزادی کیلئے جدوجہد کا راستہ اپنایا اور اسی جدوجہد کے دوران اپنے وطن کی حرمت پر قربان ہو گئے۔ انہوں نے بخوشی پھانسی کا پھندا قبول کر لیا لیکن کبھی بھی جدوجہد آزادی سے دستبردار نہ ہوئے اور تختہ دار پہ اپنی جان کا نذرانہ پیش کر کے کشمیری قوم کو سرخرو کر دیا۔

Islamabad, Jan 5: Kashmiris on this side of line of control on Sunday observed right to self-determination day with a renewed pledge to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
 On 5th January 1949, the United Nations Security Council adopted a historic resolution that acknowledged Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The day is being observed every year to highlight different aspects of Kashmir dispute besides reminding the international community of its commitments vis-à-vis the resolution of long running dispute that happens to be the root cause of tension in the region.
 In this connection, protest rallies, seminars and symposiums were organized in Pakistan and Pakistan administered Kashmir (PAK) which were addressed by Kashmir leaders hailing from different political, religious and civil society groups.
 Seeking international community’s pro-active role to settle Kashmir dispute, the Kashmiri leaders stated that an early and amicable solution of Kashmir dispute was must to ensure lasting peace and stability in South Asia.
 In this connection, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) Pak chapter organized a protest demonstration in front of UNMOGIP Office in Islamabad.
Led by APHC-M convener Syed Yousuf Naseem, the protest demonstration was attended by the leaders of political and religious parties of Pakistan administered Kashmir including Syed Ali Raza Bukhari, Sardar Raziq Khan of Muslim Conference and several others.
 Speakers on the occasion said that on 5th January 1949 the United Nations Security Council adopted a historic resolution that acknowledged Kashmiris’ right to self determination. The speakers also appealed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and peace loving nations to play their much needed role to settle the dispute once for all. The APHC leaders also presented a memorandum addressed to the UN Secretary General urging him to send a fact-finding mission in Kashmir to take stock of the worsening human rights situation in the region.
 Representatives of Mahaz-e-Azadi, Democratic Freedom Party, National Front and Islamic Political Party opted to hold a separate meeting after being “squarely ignored” by APHC-M Pak chapter. Sources told Greater Kashmir that APHC-M Pak chapter convener was bound to follow the directives of Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq who had given him strict directions not to entertain the representatives of those leaders or groups who have “violated the organizational discipline.”
 The representatives of the said organizations convened a meeting at Democratic Freedom Party office in Rawalpindi wherein they sought world community’s attention towards the unresolved issue of Kashmir. According to a press release issued here today, the meeting was headed by Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah of Mahz-e-Azadi and attended by Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, the vice-president of Democratic Freedom Party, National Front Leader Altaf Hussain Wani and Abdul Hameed Lone of Islamic Political Party.

 The participants of the meeting made a passionate appeal to international community to discharge its moral and legal obligations vis-à-vis the resolution of long outstanding issue of Kashmir that happens to be the oldest unresolved issue pending on the UN agenda.
 Terming right to self-determination as an inalienable and non-negotiable right of the people of Kashmir, the statement said that Kashmiris’ call for withdrawal of Indian troops from the territory of Jammu and Kashmir and settlement of dispute in line with the UN resolutions was a just political demand. The participants at the meeting resolved that under the given circumstances the UN-proposed road-map on Kashmir was the most feasible framework to address the issue that has been a stumbling block in the way of peace and prosperity in the region.
 “The dispute in the highly vulnerable region poses a serious threat to peace and stability of entire South Asian region and therefore it is incumbent on the peace loving nations across the globe to come forward in a big way to resolve the dispute peacefully to save the region from any eventuality of nuclear confrontation between India and Pakistan”, the statement said.
 The participants of the meeting also urged the world human rights bodies to take stock of the alleged human rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops in Kashmir and force India to revoke black laws which, they said, were a major cause of violation of human rights in the troubled region.
 Addressing a function at National Press Club Islamabad, the convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Pak chapter, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that it was high time that the world community should play its much needed role to resolve Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people. He said that the world community should also shun its indifference towards Kashmir and impress upon India to fulfill its commitments with regard to the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.
