Islamabad, Sep 6: The supreme head of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Amanullah Khan Thursday said that peace efforts by India and Pakistan won’t yield any positive result unless a serious and concentrated effort is made to resolve the issue of Kashmir which has inflicted loss of hundreds and thousands of lives and property worth billions of dollars.
Addressing a press conference here at the National Press Club, the JKLF founder, who was accompanied by central leader Rafique Ahmed Dar and SLF president Ghulam Mujtaba, castigated the governments of India and Pakistan for their “negligence and indifference” towards Kashmir solution. “Kashmir issue must be given top priority in the forthcoming Indo-Pak foreign ministers’ meeting on September 8,” he said. “The peace efforts by India and Pakistan are nothing till Kashmir is resolved.”
Referring to the flinching sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir, Khan said: “In view of the historic struggle, justice demands that Kashmir conflict, existence of which has consumed four generations, should not be transferred to the next Kashmiri generation.”
“For the peaceful, practicable, honorable and long-lasting resolution of Kashmir, both India and Pakistan along with the genuine ideological leadership of resistance movement should start a serious, result-oriented and time-bound dialogue process.”
Regarding his party stance, the JKLF supreme head said: “We are neither against the increasing political and economical ties between the two countries nor against the peace process. A just and honorable solution of Kashmir issue is must to ensure durable peace in the region.”
He said, “Resolution of Kashmir issue can prove a bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan otherwise it will continue to be a bone of contention between them”.Khan while elaborating his proposed solution, said, “Reunification of divided parts of Jammu Kashmir and establishment of an independent and sovereign state with a democratic and federal system of governance wherein every citizen of the state irrespective of religion, cast and creed would enjoy equal rights”.
Regarding Indo-Pak leadership’s commitment, he said that Quad-e-Azam Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah in a policy statement on 11th July, 1947 has accepted the right to independence of Kashmir whereas Mr. Gopala Sawami Ayyanagar as the head of Indian delegation, in his speech on the floor of UNSC on 15th January, 1948 had also accepted Kashmir’s right to independence.
Expressing 10 mega benefits of his proposed K-solution, he said that one of which is that the formula provides a solution of Kashmir issue without shedding a drop of blood of either party.
He also appealed to the national leadership and most importantly the people of Pakistan to support the idea of an independent and sovereign Jammu Kashmir State and hoped that the democracy and justice loving people of India and their representatives shall also support it.
Responding to a question regarding the constitutional amendments in Act 1974 (PaK interim act), Khan said that JKLF believes that legislation is the sole right of the people of PaK.
