NISAR AHMED THOKAR
Muzaffarabad, Aug 20: The cabinet meeting presided over by PaK Prime Minister Chudhary Abdul Majeed on Saturday sought United States’ pro-active role to settle the Kashmir dispute in order to diffuse tension between the two South Asian nuclear armed neighbours.
The extraordinary session hailed the US Senator John McCain’s visit to Islamabad, Srinagar and Ladakh and termed his recent address to media in New Delhi as a positive and encouraging development vis-à-vis Kashmir and demanded that the internationally community should play its much-needed role to address the issue.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the cabinet meeting assured their full support to Kashmiris’ peaceful struggle for right to self-determination. They said that the people and the PaK government would never let down the people of Kashmir who are engaged in a peaceful struggle.
The participants of the meeting through a unanimous resolution denounced the PML-N president and former Pak premier Nawaz Sharief’s recent remarks and said that the views expressed by Sharief at a function organized by SAFMA were against the spirit of two nation theory.
They also expressed concern over the recent wave of violence and target killings in Karachi.
