Muzaffarabad, Aug 24: The Prime Minister of Pakistani administered Kashmir Chudhary Abdul Majeed has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s policy of national reconciliation was not to cling to power but to steer the country out of the crises.
Addressing media at the PM secretariat here on Tuesday, Chudhary said in pursuance of President Asif Ali Zardari’s policy of reconciliation the PPP led government in the region has decided to forge electoral alliance with Muslim Conference in the bye elections scheduled to held next month.
He said the decision to this effect was taken unanimously and the PPP leadership right from top to bottom was on the same page on the issue and there was no discord whatsoever. He expressed the hope that the policy would help to create a conducive atmosphere for the development besides promoting political stability in the region. He invited to PML-N led by Raja Farooq Haider Khan to follow the policy in order to work together for the greater interests of the people of the region.
Regarding the shifting of capital from Muzaffarabad, he said that the incumbent regime won’t allow it happen saying that all the offices that were shifted to other places after the deadly earth quake of 2005 would be brought back immediately. Highlighting the significance of the capital city he vowed to work for the region’s development and prosperity.
He announced that president Zardari would very soon inaugurate the Muzaffararabd Medical College and classes would be started from October 2011.
The prime minister lambasted the previous governments for promoting the culture of nepotism, regionalism and cast system in the region. He said judicial system was ruined in past thereby violating the merit system. “The earth quake victims, the issues relating to Mangla Dam and even Kashmir issue was totally ignored”, he maintained. Under the given circumstances he said that there was a dire need to adopt such a policy that could generate optimism all across the region. He however maintained that promoting good governance in the region was the prime responsibility of his government.
“Therefore, we have agreed in principle to support MC’s candidate Sardar Usman Attique in the bye-elections and the entire PPP leadership is one and united on this issue”, he said.
“I have no ego, we want to spread love and our message of love and reconciliation is for all”, he said adding that the doors were open for Pakistan Muslim League (N).
CONCERNED OVER MASS GRAVES
Chudhary Abdul Majeed during a meeting with APHC leaders at Kashmir House on Tuesday voiced serious concern over unnamed graves being discovered in Kashmir valley.
Referring to JKSHRC’s recent report, Chudhary stated that the findings serve as an eye-opener for the world community.
Assuring his government’s full support to Kashmir cause he said that so long as the resolution of Kashmir issue was concerned the PPP led government in the region would take all the political parties into confidence saying that he was ready to approach all those (forces) who talk about the fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir.
The APHC delegation was led by Mehmood Ahmed Saghar and comprised Syed Yousuf Naseem, Faiz Naqashbandi Manzoor Haq Bhat, Abdullah Gilni, Abdul Majeed Malik, Abdul Hameed and Nisar Mirza.
