Islamabad: The convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) Pak Chapter, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar on Tuesday appreciated the recent European Parliament’s resolution on Kashmir and expressed optimism that the EU countries would redouble their efforts to seek permanent solution of the Kashmir dispute.
“Peace in the South Asian region depends on the settlement of Kashmir dispute. Peace in this highly volatile region will remain illusive unless the festering dispute is settled in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations”, Saghar said while chairing the amalgam’s meeting here.
Terming the European Parliament’s resolution as a significant development, he said that resolution speaks volumes about the EU countries’ commitment in seeking a peaceful solution of the Kashmir imbroglio.
“The EU parliament has adopted many resolutions on Kashmir in the past that included the protest resolution against mass graves discovered in Kashmir and has also denounced Indian government’s policy of repression in the Valley besides terming it (Kashmir) a beautiful prison,” he said.
