Islamabad, July 13: While observing Martyrs day, the PaK Chapter of Hurriyat Conference (M) on Friday staged a protest in front of the UNMOGIP office in Islamabad to draw world body’s attention towards the unresolved Kashmir issue.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the supreme sacrifices of July 13 Martyrs and termed it as an important milestone of Kashmiris’ political struggle. Since July 13 1931, they said that Kashmiris have offered tremendous sacrifices. “International community should play its much needed role to find an amicable solution to Kashmir issue that happens to be one of the oldest unresolved disputes of the world,” they said.
They said that Kashmiris were a peaceful nation and believe that the dialogue was the best way to resolve disputes. They however maintained that under the garb of dialogue New Delhi had always tried to mislead the world community.
Speakers while praising Kashmiris’ commitment, perseverance and forbearance reiterated their pledge to take the ongoing political struggle to its logic end despite all odds.
Those who spoke on the occasion included PPP leader and senior cabinet minister (PaK) Chudhary Yaseen, APHC convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Nabeela Ershad, Noorul Bari and others.
Latter, the Hurriyat (M) convener and other leaders of the amalgam presented a memorandum to UNMOGIP officials urging the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to discharge his legal and moral duties vis-à-vis the resolution of long pending dispute of Kashmir.

Islamabad, July 13: The Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that the Kashmiris are a brave nation, who launched a valiant struggle against the despotic Maharaja in 1931 and challenged many other tyrant rulers in the past.
“Kashmiris revolted against the tyranny of the rulers and many of their leaders, including Sardar Sabaz Ali Khan and Sardar Shamas Khan were skinned alive,” Rahman said in a statement issued on the occasion of Martyrs day.
He said that Pakistan supported Kashmiris in the past and would continue doing so in the future as well. Referring to Pakistanis commitment towards Kashmiris he said, “A Kashmir Committee was also formed then with Allama Iqbal its head to support Kashmiris’, he said.
JAMAAT DISAPPOINTED OVER FAI’S ARREST
Meanwhile, the Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former senator Prof. Khurshid Ahmad has expressed his deep sorrow and disappointment for sending Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai Chairman Kashmir American Council to prison for two years and further surveillance for three years.
“This is a travesty of justice and an eye opening example of duplicity and hypocrisy of the American Establishment”, Prof. Khurshid said in a statement.
He said that even the Court, which has sentenced Dr. Fai has acknowledged his character, commitment and selfless services to the cause of the people of Kashmir and his struggle for their right of self-determination.
