‘July 13, 1931 corner stone of ongoing struggle’
Islamabad: Recalling the supreme sacrifices of Kashmiris, speakers at a seminar hosted by Vorsa-e-Shuhda Jammu Kashmir forum (Heirs of Kashmiri Martyrs) here on Thursday said that the valiant struggle of Kashmiris against despotic Dogra Maharaja was a corner stone of the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination.
Participants while addressing the seminar called on the Pakistan Government to continue its support to Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle. “Pakistan’s security and the economic stability is inescapably linked to a just solution of Kashmir dispute,” they said.
They resolved that the decades’ long old dispute of Kashmir was essentially important to ensure durable peace besides putting an end to arms race and the existing mistrust and hostility between the South Asian nuclear neighbors.
They also appreciated the KAC chief Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai’ role to project and promote Kashmir cause at international level in a befitting manner. Hailing Kashmiri people’s contribution the participants reiterated their resolve to carry forward the ongoing struggle at on all fronts.
Pertinently, seminar held at Aiwani Jinnah (Islamabad) was attended by hundreds of activist Jamiat Dawa, Hizbul Mujahideen and other militant groups. However, Hurriyat leaders (from both the factions) did not turn up to attend the seminar.
Islamabad, July 12: The Supreme Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and the chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin on Thursday reiterated that struggle in Kashmir would continue till the goal is achieved.
Paying tributes to Kashmiri martyrs who were gunned down by soldiers of Maharaja on 13 July 1931 he said, “The current struggle in Kashmir is an extension of the movement which was launched against despotic Maharaja. From 1931 till date more than half a million Kashmiris have offered sacrifices to achieve the cherished goal”, he said.
Flaying New Delhi’s intransigence he said that New Delhi’s undemocratic attitude and dilly dallying tactics have been major hurdle in the way of peace in the region.
He said that Kashmiris were not averse to indo-Pak friendly relations. However he made it clear that relations and trade with India should not be at the cost of Kashmiris sacrifices.
Terming right to self-determination as the only acceptable solution the UJC chief maintained that internal autonomy or any formula aimed at bifurcation of Kashmir was not acceptable to the people of Kashmir. Salahuddin reiterated that the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination would continue at all fronts unless and until New Delhi withdraws its forces from Kashmiris’ soil.
