Rawalpindi, Oct 9: Appreciating Kashmiri peoples’ struggle the members of Jamaat-e-Islami of Pakistani administered Kashmir (PaK) during the party’s annual meeting have voiced their unflinching support to Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination.
The General Council of Jamaat met under the chairmanship of the JI Chief Abdul Rashid Turabi concluded here last evening. The meeting was addressed by senior leaders of the party, whereas a recorded message of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani was played on the occasion.
Participants through a unanimous resolution called on the international community particularly the UN, European Union and the OIC member countries to play their effective role to settle the lingering Kashmir issue in line with the universally accepted principles of right to self-determination. They demanded the world community to help resolve the decades’ long dispute by holding a referendum in Kashmir on the pattern of East Timor and South Sudan.
The participants also voiced serious concern over Indian External Minister S M Krishna’s recent statement that JK is an integral part of India. “Ongoing dialogue process with India is nothing but a self-deceit. Government of Pakistan should suspend dialogue with India at all levels till the latter accepts the ground realities and grants Kashmiri people their right, guaranteed to them by the world community,” the participants said.
The Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani urged the people of Pakistan and PaK to stand united to foil the designs of those who are hell bent on wreaking havoc and destabilize the country. “A strong, stable and prosperous Pakistan is guarantee to struggle of Kashmiris,” Geelani said.
