‘HR Situation Deteriorating In Kashmir’: Ammanullah Khan
NISAR AHMED THOKAR
Islamabad, Oct 2: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (PaK and Gilgit Baltistan Zone) on Wednesday staged a sit-in outside the National Press Club Islamabad urging the international community to take cognizance of “deteriorating human rights situation” in Kashmir.
Led by JKLF supreme head Ammanullah Khan, scores of JKLF leaders and activists of Students Liberation Front (SLF) participated in the protest.
On the occasion, Khan expressed his serious concern over what he said “killing of innocent civilians, extra-judicial killings, and detention of political activists and atrocities being inflicted upon the Kashmiri people.”
“Over the past several years India used all tactics to suppress Kashmiris’ freedom movement but it failed miserably to quell the movement. Ironically Indian civil society and international community that assured their full support to Kashmiris’ peaceful movement were now behaving like mute spectators. It is unfortunate that they could not see the suppression being committed against Kashmiris”, Khan added.
“We provided an ample opportunity to India as well as the world community to heed the voices of Kashmiri people, but it seems that Kashmiris’ urge for peace is being misconstrued as a weakness,” he said.
In their address, the JKLF leaders while expressing their concern over the LoC tension demanded that India and Pakistan should withdraw their forces from ceasefire line. “Kashmir was neither India’s integral part nor a juggler vein of Pakistan. Kashmiris are the masters of their own destiny,” they said.
Among those who spoke on the occasion included Hafiz Anwar Samawi, Abdul Hameed Bhat, Rafique Dar, Saleem Haroon, Ghulam Mujtaba and Khawaja Pervaiz.
