Islamabad, Oct 9: The chairman of United Jihad Council (UJC), Syed Salahuddin on Wednesday said that if Kashmir was not addressed in its historical perspective the incidents like Samba, Hiranagar and Keran would continue to recur.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, the UJC chief said: “The people of Kashmir are engaged in a legitimate struggle against highly equipped Indian forces. The war between oppressed and the oppressor has been going on in the over the past several years and it would continue unabated unless Kashmiri people achieve their cherished goal”.
He was of the view that New Delhi’s obduracy is pushing the entire South Asian region into quagmire of uncertainty and a deadly war, which he said would have far reaching consequence on the overall security situation in the region.
Expressing discontentment over the Indo-Pak dialogue process, he said, “The incongruous dialogue and so-called CBMs won’t really help to improve the alarming situation in the region”.
“Given the vulnerable situation in the region,” he said. “It is incumbent upon the international community and the peace-loving people around the globe to persuade India to adopt a realistic approach to settle the long-pending Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people.” Replying to a query he said, “The Mujahideen who gave tough time to Indian forces in Keran sector recently were not aliens but they were all local Mujahideen (fighters)”.
Without going into the details of the incident Hizb chief termed these attacks as successful “guerilla operations” and said that such attacks against the forces could increase further in future.
