Jamaat Reiterates Unconditional Support To Kashmiris
HURRIYAT’S PAK VISIT

Islamabad, Dec 22: The former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the president of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mian Nawaz Sharief has said that peace and stability in South Asia hinges on a peaceful and negotiated settlement of Kashmir issue.
The former premier made these assertions while interacting with seven-member delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) who called on him at his Raiwand residence in Lahore on Friday. Besides Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shabaz Sharief, former prime minister of Pakistani administered Kashmir Raja Farooq Hyder Khan, Shah Ghulam Qadir and other senior leaders of the party were present on the occasion.
Lauding the sacrifices of Kashmiri people, Sharief on the occasion assured his party’s full support to Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination. He also appreciated Hurriyat leaders’ resolve and supported the amalgam’s call for Kashmiris’ inclusion in the ongoing talks between India and Pakistan.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that the PML-N chief acknowledged the fact that that since a long time India-Pakistan talks could not make a headway towards the resolution of long-pending dispute of Kashmir. He said that during his previous government he had initiated dialogue process with India with a view to resolve Kashmir conflict and other outstanding issues but the entire peace process got derailed as a result of Kargil war.
However, he was of the view that a sustainable and meaningful dialogue between the two countries and a strong leadership on both sides was must to resolve this conflict.
As far as the situation in Pakistan is concerned, Nawaz told the visiting delegation that there was a promising change in the country, democracy and democratic institutions in the country were getting strong. This change, he said, suits both Pakistani and Kashmiri people.
The visiting delegates on the occasion briefed the PML-N chief about the prevailing political situation in Kashmir and thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their all out support to Kashmir cause. About cross LoC CBMs, Hurriyat (M) leaders said free travel and people to people dialogue across the LoC should be further strengthened as these confidence building measures give a sense of satisfaction to the people on both sides.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat delegation visited Jamaat Islami Headquarter at Mansoora in Lahore, wherein they were received by Liaqat Baloch, the Secretary General of Jamaat. The Hurriyat (M) leaders had a detailed meeting with central leaders of Jamaat. However the JI chief Syed Munawar Hassan could not attend the meeting as he was scheduled to attend the marriage ceremony of his son in Karachi.
Welcoming the Hurriyat leaders, the JI stalwarts reiterated their unwavering support to Kashmir cause and said that the party would never compromise on Kashmiris’ inalienable right for right to self-determination. They said that Jamaat’s view point was clear that bilateral relations between India and Pakistan won’t flourish until the dispute of Kashmir was settled in line with Kashmiris aspirations. Baloch said that Jamaat Islami has serious reservations over the incumbent regime’s decision to grant MFN status to India. So far as the Indo-Pak relations are concerned, he said that Jamaat believes that trade ties with India should be linked to the settlement of Kashmir issue.
Sources said that JI leaders also stressed the need for unity and concurrence amongst the Kashmiri leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Mirwaiz, who heads the seven-member Hurriyat delegation, said that Hurriyat (M) always believes in unity. He however said that so many initiatives have been taken in this regard but the fact remains that pro-freedom leadership across the board was committed and united on the issue of Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. “No doubt difference of opinion is there but it should not in any way become impediment in the conflict resolution”, he added.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman was accompanied by Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Ghani Lone, Moulana Abass Ansari, Mukhatar Ahmed Waza, Syed Agha Hassan Almosavi and Muhammad Musadiq Aadil.

Terming Indo-Pak talks as a positive development, Mirwaiz said that inclusion of Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue processes was must to make it credible and result-oriented. He appreciated Pakistani political parties for having identical views and approach regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue.
